How the Runify Motion app for iPhone and the motion.runify.it website handle data.Last updated: .

1. Data controller

The data controller is Marco Dell’Anna, an individual.

For any question about how personal data is handled, write to marco@runify.it.

2. The app: what stays on your phone

The app has no accounts and you don’t need to sign up. When you first open it, it asks for your name, only to greet you. The analysis runs on the phone. These stay on the phone and never reach us:

  • your name;
  • running videos and analyses;
  • names, photos, height, weight and other details of the people you analyze, including email and notes if you enter them;
  • exercise plans;
  • your answers about pain and injuries;
  • data read from Health.

If you analyze other people, their data stays on your phone. It only leaves when you share it yourself: a PDF, a video or the .runify file with the copy of your data. If you delete the app, videos, analyses and people go with it.

3. The app: permissions

The app asks for a permission only when it needs it, and still works if you refuse one, without the part that requires it. You can change your mind at any time in the iPhone settings.

  • Camera: to record your running and, if you want, to take people’s photos.
  • Photos: to import 120 fps videos, including Slo-mo, and to save the videos you export to your library.
  • Health: to show today’s steps on the Home screen and, when comparing analyses, the running speed recorded by Apple Watch. The app reads only these two values and writes nothing to Health. It doesn’t send them to anyone, including us, and doesn’t use them for advertising.

The app doesn’t ask for your location.

4. The app: what leaves the phone

  • Anonymous statistics: our server may receive a random code created by the app, with your answers to the initial questionnaire, nationality, gender, app version and the day of last use. The code isn’t linked to your name and contains nothing listed in section 2.
  • Articles: to show you articles, the app downloads them from coach.runify.it. As with any web page, the provider hosting the site records technical data such as the IP address in its logs.

Downloading and updating the app goes through the App Store, under Apple’s privacy policy.

5. The website

motion.runify.it has no forms, sign-ups or accounts. We only handle:

  • Technical visit data: when you open a page, the provider hosting the site records data such as the IP address, browser and requested page in its logs. This keeps the site running and protects it.
  • Statistics, only if you accept them in the banner: aggregated data about visits, described in the cookie policy.
  • Email, if you write to us: your address and what you tell us, only to reply.

6. Purposes and legal basis

  • Keeping the site and app running and secure; understanding who uses the app and how many people use it, through the anonymous statistics: the controller’s legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, GDPR).
  • Counting visits to the site and understanding which pages are useful: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Replying to people who write: your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Data is not used for advertising, profiling or newsletters.

7. Retention

What is on the phone stays until you delete it or delete the app. Technical logs stay with the hosting provider for the time set by the service, usually a few days. The app’s anonymous statistics have no expiry date for now: they are kept for as long as they help us understand who uses the app. Website statistics follow the periods given in the cookie policy. Emails are kept for as long as it takes to reply and handle whatever follows.

8. Recipients

Data is accessible to the controller and, where needed, to the providers of the services used by the site and app, including Google Ireland Limited for Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics, only on the website and only with your consent.

These providers may also process data outside the European Union, with the safeguards required by the GDPR (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). Data is not sold or disclosed.

Links to runify.it, coach.runify.it, Instagram and TikTok lead to other sites, with their own policies.

9. Your rights

In the cases and within the limits set by Articles 15–22 GDPR you can ask for:

  • access to your personal data;
  • correction of inaccurate data;
  • deletion of data;
  • restriction of processing;
  • data portability, where applicable;
  • to object to processing, where provided for.

To do so, write to marco@runify.it. You can also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante).

10. Updates

This policy may change if the app, the site, the services used or the law change. The current version is always on this page.
